Sheriff’s office employee leads donation drive for hurricane victims

Carli Redmond, an employee of the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office since 2019, successfully organized a donation drive to support victims of Hurricane Helene. Inspired by her background as the daughter of a first responder, Redmond felt a strong desire to help those affected by the storm.

After the storm passed, she reached out to local businesses for support. With contributions from organizations like Matthews Towing and Tate’s Hauling, she coordinated a community-wide effort that quickly gained traction. The response was overwhelming, leading to five trailers filled with essential supplies.

Three departed for North Carolina on the first weekend of October, two others were sent to South Georgia, which also faced significant storm damage. Local emergency management agencies and sheriffs in North Carolina expressed their gratitude for the support from the Dalton-Whitfield community…
