Fired-up Warriors rocket past Demons, 24-17

WENDELL — Despite squandering one scoring opportunity with a fumble deep in East Wake territory, Fike High was in good shape with a 10-3 halftime lead in Friday night’s 3-A Quad County Conference varsity football game.

But an injury to an East Wake ball carrier on the second play from scrimmage in the second half led to a lengthy delay, the other side of which the Golden Demons encountered a fired-up group of Warriors. East Wake reeled off three second-half shutdowns and survived its own fumble for a Fike touchdown to prevail 24-17.
