FEMA approves over $154 million for Hurricane Helene recovery in South Carolina

SOUTH CAROLINA (WCIV) — TheFederal Emergency Management Agency announced Saturday they have approved more than $154 million in federal disaster assistance in South Carolina for Hurricane Helene recovery.

This money is helping more than 211,000 South Carolina households in recovery, the agency said.

These funds include:

  • More than $11 million in housing grants to help pay for home repair, home replacement and rental assistance for temporary housing.
  • More than $142 million in Other Needs Assistance grants to help pay for personal property replacement and other serious storm-related needs, such as moving and storage fees, transportation, childcare, and medical and dental expenses.

FEMA said they’ve inspected over 23,000 homes for Hurricane Helene survivors and nine disaster recovery centers have been opened across the state…
