A South Carolina woman is facing federal charges for allegedly failing to pay over $1 million in employment taxes.
Mari Alexander, the former owner and president of Ross Behavioral Group, a mental health counseling center with locations in middle Tennessee, was indicted by a federal grand jury in Nashville on charges of willfully failing to account for and pay over employment taxes.
The indictment alleges that from 2015 to 2020, Alexander withheld Social Security, Medicare, and federal income taxes from her employees’ wages but did not pay the full amount to the IRS.
