MH-53E “Dragon 437” retires

A huge US Navy MH-53E Sea Dragon helicopter arrived above Space Coast Regional Airport on Oct. 16, 2024, rotors roaring above the runway while a nearby North American T-6 Texan provided an aerial escort.

As reported by Florida Today, before landing the helicopter did a series of photo passes before a crowd of more than 75 onlookers. Afterward, the MH-53E Sea Dragon touched down and taxied beneath a water cannon salute provided by Titusville Fire Department and Space Coast Regional Airport fire engines before rolling to a stop outside its new home: the Valiant Air Command Warbird Museum.

“It’s a Cadillac. It’s a boat, I would say, like an Oldsmobile maybe? What you have to remember is, when you’re sitting up here (in the cockpit), you’ve got 100 feet of aircraft behind you,” Cmdr. Andrew Sebastiano said…
