League hosts session on Issue 1

The Tiffin League of Women Voters met Wednesday evening to discuss and educate the community about State Issue 1, also called the Citizens Not Politicians Amendment, which is a proposed constitutional amendment to get politicians out of the redistricting process and to put an end to gerrymandering.

According to Pam Easterday, who gave the presentation with the League at the Tiffin-Seneca Public Library, redistricting happens every 10 years and is the act of redrawing district maps to account for changes in populations. These maps are used to decide congressional, house and senate seats.

Easterday said that the goal of periodically redrawing these maps is to make district maps as equal in population size as possible…
