Here’s what we know about an injury to Wisconsin’s freshman cornerback

EVANSTON, Ill. — The University of Wisconsin football team will be without one of its top cornerbacks for the rest of its game Saturday at Northwestern.

Freshman Xavier Lucas was ruled out for the remainder of the contest with an upper-body injury. Lucas broke up a third-and-10 on the Wildcats’ third series, but took a big hit to his back from teammate Preston Zachman, who came sprinting to the ball from his safety position in the middle of the field.

Lucas has been playing starter’s reps at the boundary cornerback position, splitting snaps with Nyzier Fourqurean at that spot. Lucas entered the game with eight tackles and one interception this season…
