USD overcomes early deficit to defeat Youngstown State

YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO (KELO) — No. 4 USD trailed 14-0 early in the second quarter but scored 27 of the game’s final 30 points for a 27-17 victory at Youngstown State Saturday evening. It marked the program’s first win over the Penguins on the road.

YSU scored on a 15-yard pass and an 11-yard run to take a 14-point lead two and a half minutes into the second quarter. The Coyotes scored their first points of the game on an Aidan Bouman 48-yard touchdown strike to Quaron Adams with 9:30 left in the quarter. They tied the game at 14 on a Charles Pierre Jr. 21-yard TD run. The Penguins took a 17-14 lead into the locker on a field goal in the final seconds.
