Dutchess County could be home to one of the most allegedly haunted spots in New York State.
It’s that spooky time of the year and everyone is talking about ghosts, hauntings and scary stories. Turns out, there’s a lot of allegedly haunted place in New York State and more specifically there’s a lot right here in the Hudson Valley. That’s pretty spooky when you really think about it. There’s been a lot of chatter over the years about one church in Dutchess County and many people claim it’s pretty haunted. Some have even said that it could be ONE of the most haunted places in the state, so you know there’s a pretty good story behind it.
SIDE NOTE: I am talking about a church and am trying to be respectful. That being said I mean no disrespect at all to any religion or the people who attend services at this spot.
What church in Dutchess County is allegedly haunted?
Many people believe that the Christ Episcopal Church in Poughkeepsie is haunted and there’s a pretty crazy legend behind it. According to sources, the church is haunted by the spirit of a former reverend named Peter Cummings who passed away during the 1940’s. That’s not all….some parishioners claim they have allegedly seen shadow figures inside the church and have seen a woman who appears during church services. Just wait, it gets worse……
