SAGINAW, Mich. (WNEM) – Warm weather will continue to hold on in your First Alert Forecast for the next several days. Given the time of year, this is perfect for any of your outdoor plans! Drought conditions still persist for most of our area though, so burning is not recommended. More details on the warmth, but also our lack of rainfall, are below.
Tonight
Skies will be mostly clear tonight. There‘s a wave of cirrus clouds moving through that will dissipate after midnight. Behind those clouds, clear skies hold all the way through sunrise. Lows fall to 44 degrees with a southwest wind at 5 to 10 mph. It’ll be a chilly night, just not quite as cold as some nights were earlier this week.
Sunday
The clear/sunny skies will continue from start to finish! With a southwest wind at 10 to 15 mph, gusting to 25 mph, temperatures will be able to soar up to 75 degrees for our highs. The normal high this time of year is around 58 to 59 degrees, so this is certainly warm given the season!
The sun, but also the warm temperatures and strong breeze, combine to make our area a tinderbox going into the afternoon. Relative humidity values also drop down to around 30% at peak heating in the afternoon. Under these conditions, if something were to spark off it would be able to spread quickly. This is why burning is not recommended. There are still some burn bans in place too, so check with your local officials to see what pertains to your exact area.
Moderate drought (stage one) expands across most of mid-Michigan. Even to the south where conditions are only “abnormally dry” rainfall for the season is still behind by several inches. These areas highlighted in the bright yellow are essentially at the entry stages of drought.
Sunday night will stay mild with a low of 54 degrees. The wind will also stay somewhat stout at 10 to 20 mph from the southwest. When you head out the door Monday morning, you likely just need a sweatshirt!…
