Bulldogs Fall on the Road Against the Miners

El Paso, Texas – The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs fall on the road to the UTEP Miners on Saturday night. LA Tech gave up a late goal in the 87th minute to lose 2-1 to the Miners on the road.

The Miners and the Bulldogs combined for ten shots in the first half. The Miners outshot Tech 6-4 in the first half, but Tech had three corner attempts compared to UTEP’s two. Defender Caroline Martin had two attempts in the 20th and 29th minute. Martin had her second shot attempt saved by UTEP goalkeeper Tionna Taylor. Emma Jones and Madison Pensom had shot attempts but could not connect on the attempts. Cadence Rutledge collected two saves after facing six shots.

After a scoreless first half, Defender Kalli Matlock would give Tech a 1-0 lead after a touch-and-go pass from Tal Faingezicht allowed Matlock to score. UTEP forward Ana Quintero netted a goal in the 65th minute to make the game 1-1. Shots from Jones and Callie McKinney couldn’t get in the back of the net for the Bulldogs. In the 86th minute, UTEP’s Mina Rodriguez scored off a corner kick to put the Miners up 2-1. Kyra Taylor had an opportunity to tie the game for the Bulldogs, but her shot was saved by UTEP’s goalkeeper. Rutledge also earned two more saves in the second half after facing 13 shots…
