One of the more curious prospects in the Detroit Red Wings system is center Amadeus Lombardi. On the one hand, figuring out where he might fit into the team’s future plans is not at all clear. Then again, the shifty pivot keeps on doing things that are showing that you can’t be completely discounting him from the picture.
The summoning of Marco Kasper to Detroit on Friday to be playing for the Red Wings was meaning that all of the centers on the Grand Rapids Griffins roster were going to be expected to be stepping up. The team would be asking them to fill greater roles. And in Saturday’s 2-1 AHL home-ice win over the Manitoba Moose, it was Lombardi filling the offensive void.
