On a recent visit to Disneyland Park, we discovered new roofing at Main Street Station, as the Disneyland Railroad prepares to reopen later this month.
Disneyland Railroad Main Street Station Roofing
The Disneyland Railroad closed on August 5. In September, we reported that the Main Street Station was behind themed scrim, as seen above. Now, due to a wind advisory, the scrim has been rolled up, and we were able to sneak a peek at some of the work that has been done at the station at the entrance of Disneyland Park.
Most of the roofing of the station has been removed, leaving the top of the building a plain gray color. The photo above was taken from the inside of the park.
Here’s another look at the roofing of the main section of the station. Some red roofing has been installed on the far right side and center of the building. However, most of the area is still gray.
Here is what the roof will look like when it’s replaced. This photo shows the roof at the far left end of the station when facing the building from inside the park. The roof is dark red with multiple patterns.
At the top, a light pattern of diamonds sits above a dark brick pattern. Beneath the brick is another light pattern, this time featuring half circles. Beneath the half circles is more dark brick, then back to light diamonds. The pattern continues to repeat until the bottom of the roof.
The new roof replaces the sun-bleached roof that was present at the station earlier this year. The above photo was taken in early 2024. The roof was very light brown with some beige sections. It featured the same pattern that is present on the new roof.
Here’s a view of the construction from outside of the park. The scrim should be let down once the wind advisory is removed so guests can look at the themed scrim upon entering the park, rather than unsightly construction.
The section of the roof that has been completed when viewing it from the inside of the park is still undergoing construction. Part of the roof is covered, and blue tape sits over some of the patterned sections of roofing.
The Disneyland Railroad is set to reopen on Friday, October 25, the same date as the newly-reimagined Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree. We recently spotted the train testing a full loop at Disneyland. Since closing in August, new track has been installed in certain sections of the attraction…
