Halfinger, Matsuoka Win Doubles and Singles vs. Tennessee Tech on Final Day of Buck Bouldin Classic

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Middle Tennessee men’s tennis team concluded the final day of the Buck Bouldin Fall Classic with a matchup against the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles at the MTSU Outdoor Tennis Facility.

For the third time this weekend, the Blue Raiders split the doubles point today vs. Tennessee Tech, as Rostislav Halfinger and Shu Matsuoka defeated the Golden Eagles’ No. 1 pairing Murilo Burckhardt and Alex Avarez 6-4. Igor Mandou Berranger and Kristian Thomas fell in the second-seeded match to TTU’s Oliver Dao and Lucas Bitzer 6-4.

Middle Tennessee won the first and second-seeded matchups in singles play with Matsuoka and Halfinger remaining unbeaten on the day. Matsuoka bested the No. 1 seed Burckhardt after dropping the opening set 7-6 in a come from behind effort. Halfinger took care of business in the No. 2 spot, defeating Alvarez in straight sets 6-3, 7-5. Mandou Berranger and Thomas battled in the No. 3 and No. 4 spots, but ultimately fell by scores of 6-2, 2-6, 6-2 and 7-6, 7-6, respectively…
