Natick Town Meeting week #1: MBTA Communities articles pass

Natick Fall Annual Town Meeting on Oct. 15 got off to a tidy start—the first article literally had to do with swapping money from a a contractor to staff for facilities cleaning—and the legislative body made great progress on the 32-article warrant during its Tuesday and Thursday sessions. By the end of the second night, Town Meeting had made it all the way through Article 25, with some earlier ones postponed.

This marked the first Town Meeting at Kennedy Middle School, a change from the usual venue of Natick High School.

The most watched Article, #24, had to do with the town’s efforts to comply with the MBTA Communities Act, which requires municipalities with public transportation stops to allow for building of multifamily housing by right mostly near those stations.
