BEAVER DAM — Fort Atkinson senior Mary Worden earned her fourth career top-three finish in the Badger Conference cross country championships by placing third at Beaver Dam High School on Saturday.
Worden posted a time of 19 minutes, 28 seconds in the 56-runner field, finishing behind only Monona Grove senior Mackenzie Babcock (first, 19:01) and Waunakee junior Emily Berger (second, 19:23), to earn first team all-conference honors for the fourth time.
“Mary was fearless at the beginning, got out hard and stuck her nose in it as those top three broke away,” Fort Atkinson cross country coach Spencer Agnew said. “She hung in that front pack as long as she could and stayed fearless.”…
