Copperas Cove community leader remembered

Affectionately known as “Judge” or “Mayor,” John Alvin Hull died Wednesday, leaving a legacy of service to the Copperas Cove community. He was 91.

Hull served the Copperas Cove and Coryell County community as part of the Copperas Cove ISD school board for more than 20 years. He was a Copperas Cove City Councilman, Mayor, Coryell County Commissioner, and Coryell County Judge.

Hull was born to Johnnie and A.T. Hull in the community of Antelope, which is now Fort Cavazos. As a boy John had polio and, according to his obituary, Hull’s struggle with polio taught him independence, perseverance, and the value of a strong character.
