CHAMPAIGN COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — A police procession honoring a trooper who died in the line of duty was held Monday afternoon.
WCIA previously reported that Trooper Corey Thompsen was finishing a traffic enforcement detail on E. Leverett Road when a truck, driven by 32-year-old Helen Torres of Thomasboro, struck Thompsen’s motorcycle. Thompsen died from his injuries on Friday.
The St. Joseph and Stanton Fire Protection District announced that a large police procession would move from Urbana to St. Joesph beginning around 1 p.m.
