According to the NWS Tulsa office, these conditions, combined with ongoing drought, will create near-critical fire spread rates. Fire departments and residents are advised to stay vigilant and avoid any open flames or spark-causing activities. Properly extinguishing campfires, disposing of cigarettes safely, and avoiding welding near dry vegetation are key prevention steps. The fire risk will be compounded by gusty winds, which will make any fire control efforts more challenging.
