Don’t ask me how I remember this, but I do. When I was a wee tyke, my Halloween costume one year was a Hot Wheels driver. Being the biggest toy car enthusiast of any child you could’ve known, I was thrilled to death to find that costume.
But this was the issue…that year, we had a warmer-than-average Halloween, and my head gear was not merely one of those plastic masks. It was a costume I climbed into, like an astronaut’s uniform. Consequently, I was sweating my little rear-end off.
So, after what I’ve seen regarding Halloween weather for 2024, I don’t recommend “Hot Wheels driver” as a costume of choice. I don’t even think they make them anymore. Of course, when it comes to Halloween, kids don’t care. Just bring on the candy, and nothing else will matter.
Halloween Forecast for Kentucky and Indiana
But seriously, according to the Climate Prediction Center, Kentucky and Indiana can expect above normal temps for the spookiest day of the year. If I read that color code right, we’re talking about a 70 to 80% chance of a warm Halloween.
Now, when we’re talking about “above normal” for October in western Kentucky, we’re talking about temperatures exceeding 71 or 72 degrees, the month’s average highs. And in my estimation, that spells C-O-M-F-O-R-T. As for southern Indiana, it isn’t that much different.
In other words, maybe this isn’t the year for the authentic Chewbacca or Bigfoot costumes (although they would be awesome)…
