SOUTH LYON — One of the city’s newest police officers is being credited for her quick actions early Monday that prevented a fire from becoming a tragedy.

Officer Angela Bay, sworn in as a South Lyon police officer in June, was on patrol at about 1:20 a.m. Monday, Oct. 21, when she noticed heavy smoke passing over East Lake Street, Police Chief Doug Baaki said.

“There were flames on the balcony next to Corner Social,” Baaki said. “The guy who owns Corner Social lives up there.”…
