Tropical Storm Oscar set to track away from Florida

ORLANDO, Fla. On Monday evening, Tropical Storm Oscar was over Cuba’s eastern coast, bringing strong winds and rain.

Oscar was moving toward the north-northwest near 7 mph and a turn toward the north-northeast was expected overnight, followed by a faster northeastward motion on Tuesday and Wednesday, according to the National Hurricane Center.

Generally speaking, hurricanes in the Caribbean during November do not track toward the United States. Only three hurricanes have hit Florida during November since 1850. So, while it has happened before, it is statistically unlikely.
