81-year-old backs into path of motorcyclists: Troopers

PORT CLINTON , Ohio (WJW) – Two teenage girls were injured after troopers reported an 81-year-old backed out of a driveway and into the path of their motorcycles.

The crash happened shortly before 6 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 21 on East 6th Street, just east of Adams Street, in Port Clinton .

Mom left kids home alone to vacation in Florida

Officials with the Ohio State Highway Patrol said in a release, that the man was driving a 2009 Ford Taurus when he allegedly backed into the path of the bikes.

Emma Appleman, 19, of Norwalk struck the side of the Taurus and was seriously injured, said troopers in the release. She was later flown by medical helicopter to Saint Vincent Hospital.

Troopers said, a 17-year-old from Lakeside Marblehead was on the second motorcycle and “had to take evasive actions to avoid colliding” with the other two vehicles. As a result, she lost control and suffered minor injuries…
