‘The city has failed’: Advocates blame NYC in 4-year-old Harlem boy’s death

NEW YORK (PIX11) – Advocates and family members of a 4-year-old Harlem boy who starved to death are blaming New York City for not intervening.

Jahmeik Modlin weighed only 19 pounds at the time of his death last week, according to the medical examiner. His three other siblings were hospitalized and treated for malnutrition as well.

Brooklyn-based community activist Rev. Kevin McCall visited 26-year-old Nytavia Ragsdale , Jahmeik’s mother, at Rikers Island. She claimed that she called the Administration for Children’s Services and it visited the home in 2022, but no action was ever taken.
