Sturgis girls run away with county cross country crown

STURGIS — The Sturgis girls dominated the St. Joseph County Championships on Monday.

The Lady Trojans took advantage of running on their home course, finishing with five runners inside the Top 10 for the race. Sturgis totaled 18 points for the championships, finishing ahead of Three Rivers (45). Centreville came in third with 71 points, White Pigeon posted 113 and Constantine came in fifth at 133.

Berkley Holtz was the only runner to break the 20-minute mark in the race. She paced Sturgis with a time of 19:34 to win. Sydney Bir was second overall at 20:11 and Tessa Hatt finished third overall with a race time of 21:49. Eleanor Park’s time of 22:36 was good for fifth and Carolina Garcia came in ninth at 23:24…
