Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers has done little to quash rumors about his future with the Longhorns following a brief replacement by backup Arch Manning. On Saturday, Manning temporarily stepped in for Ewers during the second quarter of a game where Texas was trailing Georgia 20-0.
Ewers returned to the game and played the entire second half, completing 25-of-43 passes for 211 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception in the Longhorns’ 30-15 loss. Two days after being benched, Ewers was noticeably absent from his regular press conference, fuelling speculation that he may be unhappy at Texas.
Briefly, 247Sports reported that the quarterback might even sit out the rest of the 2024 season to prepare for the 2025 NFL Draft. However, a source close to Ewers quickly dismissed this claim, which has since been removed from social media.
