Oceanside, CA – On Monday, October 21, 2024, at approximately 2:47 P.M., the Oceanside Police Department responded to calls of a single vehicle collision into a pole, in the 2600 block of Oceanside Blvd. The collision occurred when a 2017 gray Toyota RAV4, traveling west on Oceanside Blvd, collided with a large metal power pole. Just prior to the collision, witnesses reported that the driver was being reckless and speeding at 80-85 mph while using the center double left turn lane. Officers and paramedics arrived to find the driver, a 36-year-old Hispanic male, had sustained fatal injuries as a result of the collision.
The investigation is ongoing and it is unknown if drugs or alcohol was a factor in the collision. No other vehicles were involved and the driver was the sole occupant of the vehicle. The name of the deceased is being withheld pending the notification of next of kin…
