Irvine may open its first homeless shelter 6 years after its first attempt

Irvine city officials are considering buying land to create the city’s first homeless shelter.

The city council will meet on Tuesday to discuss a proposal to buy two buildings on Armstrong Avenue to build a homeless shelter and provide medical and mental health services, according to the Voice of OC .

The outlet also reported that it would cost the city $18.5 million.
