BREAKING: MSU lands four-star PF Cam Ward

Michigan State has added its second piece to the 2025 recruiting class, as Upper Marlboro (MD) Largo power forward Cam Ward committed to the Spartans moments ago. Ward, a top-50 four-star prospect, chose the Spartans over Kansas State and Maryland. Ward is 6-foot-7 and has a 6-foot-11 wingspan, projecting to the four-spot on both offense and defense.

This is MSU’s second recruiting win over Maryland this cycle (the other being four-star wing Jordan Scott. However, Kansas State was most likely the second-place finisher in this one, as their NIL package was a notable one that helped them overcome a lacking of other selling points for Ward. At the end of the day, though, the Spartans won out for Ward, who visited for the Izzone Campout / Midnight Madness weekend in early October.

Ward had been a top-three target for the Spartans staff – regardless of position – since the early summer now. Him, Jalen Haralson, and Dwayne Aristode were in that top tier since the Spartans backed away from Trey McKenney and Niko Bundalo. For context, Ward is a bit more polished than Scott right now, as he can defend and score at the rim in transition. Scott is a bit more of a shooter who will make a bigger impact later in his career but needs to add some mass upon enrolling…
