Second Harvest expands presence in Brevard

MELBOURNE — When you’re unsure where your next meal will come from or how you’ll feed your family for the week, the mental toll can be just as devastating as the physical effects of hunger.

For individuals and families affected by Hurricane Milton, nonprofit organizations such as Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida is working to make sure no one goes hungry by preparing disaster relief boxes.

Outside of natural disasters, food insecurity affects one in eight residents of Central Florida, and in Brevard County, that’s accounting for 73,940 men, women, and children, according to Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida’s website…
