Longmeadow Rescue Ranch Invites Public to Name Resilient Newborn Cria Amidst Mother’s Recovery

A newborn alpaca, called a “cria,” has arrived at Longmeadow Rescue Ranch after two female alpacas were taken in from Oklahoma on September 30. According to FirstAlert4, one of the alpacas gave birth just hours after arriving. After receiving care, the mother recovered and began nursing her young, according to KSDK.

The ranch is inviting the public to help name the new cria. Staff have provided care to ensure the cria’s survival and are now looking to the community for a name that reflects his story of resilience and joy. “In the weeks since his birth, the little guy has spent his days nursing and getting acquainted with the world,” staff detailed in a social media update cited by KSDK…
