Jury deliberates after closing arguments in ‘Silly the Clown’ homicide trial

MILWAUKEE — A jury is now deliberating on whether or not a Greenfield man charged with killing his 7-week-old baby is innocent or guilty. The jury heard closing arguments Tuesday afternoon from prosecutors and defense attorneys.

Ronald Schroeder, once known professionally as Silly the Clown, is accused of killing his 7-week-old baby Catherine Schroeder in 1991. Investigators reopened the case in 2021 and charged Schroeder with the homicide of his baby girl, along with abuse of the child.

“This defendant has believed that through his action, through his control, through his manipulation, that he would not be held accountable for silence of Catie, for taking of Catie’s life,” said Matthew Torbenson, Milwaukee County assistant district attorney, while speaking to the jury…
