Vanderbilt head coach Clark Lea downplayed the individual characteristics that elite qual-threat athlete, Texas’s backup QB, Arch Manning, and starting Longhorns gunslinger Quinn Ewers bring to the position and reduced both to system QBs.
While Lea was likely trying to compliment Steve Sarkisian’s preparedness, the comment played on the QB question the Texas head coach refuses to answer definitively .
“I believe that this is a system on offense that doesn’t change dramatically with respect to who’s taking the snaps,” Lea said during an October 22 presser (h/t On3 ). “So, we’re preparing to defend the system. Obviously, both quarterbacks have played so I wouldn’t be surprised to see both. They got injury history there and you just never know.”…
