Tontitown seeks voter approval to extend existing tax for infrastructure projects

TONTITOWN, Ark. — The city of Tontitown is asking voters to approve an extension of an existing tax, which was originally set to expire in 2036. If approved, the tax would expire in 2044. Additionally, voters are being asked to decide on four city projects.

“Initially, what you need to do is decide whether or not you want to consider refinancing the bond. If you check ‘no,’ then none of the projects can be applied to. If you check ‘yes,’ you can select all four or choose which ones are most important for the community,” said Mark Latham, community development director for Tontitown.

The four proposed projects the extension would fund include a new police station, a community center, and improvements to the city’s streets and water system…
