Walgreens Encourages Public Participation in National Prescription Drug Takeback Day

Walgreens is inviting the public to join the fight against prescription drug abuse by participating in National Prescription Drug Takeback Day on Saturday, October 26, 2024. This initiative, held twice a year, provides a safe and convenient opportunity for individuals to dispose of unwanted, unused, or expired medications.

With over 1,550 kiosks located in 46 states and Washington, D.C., Walgreens aims to prevent the misuse of medications through its accessible drug disposal program. These kiosks are available at no cost during regular pharmacy hours, allowing customers to safely dispose of their medications.

To find a nearby medication disposal kiosk, visit walgreens.com and use the store locator with the filter for ‘medication disposal kiosk’ under the pharmacy section. For pharmacies without kiosks, Walgreens offers alternative drug disposal options, such as DisposeRx, which are available year-round upon request at the pharmacy counter.
