Nashville bids for a professional National Women’s Soccer League team

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Nashville has tossed its cowboy hat in the ring for a professional women’s soccer team.

HerGame Nashville LLC has made the bid, arguing that Nashville’s strong sports culture and rapid growth make it an “ideal location to cultivate and grow what would become Tennessee’s first women’s professional franchise.”

“Our franchise will be a beacon for change and empowerment, influencing positive shifts in both sports and broader societal roles,” their website reads.

Nashville’s mayor, Freddie O’Connell, has previously expressed support for the expansion of the National Women’s Soccer League into Tennessee. In a letter to the league, O’Connell called himself an advocate for women’s sports and soccer supporter. He added that Athletics Unlimited Pro Basketball announced plans to bring professional women’s basketball to the city and that a soccer team would “be a natural extension” of Nashville’s sports enthusiasm…
