City council approves support for Prop 4

The Redlands City Council held a meeting on Oct. 15, during which Mayor Paul Barich and Council Member Mario Saucedo recommended that the city support Proposition 4. The council passed the recommendation unanimously. The measure, titled the Safe Drinking Water, Wildfire Prevention, Drought Preparedness, and Clean Air Bond Act of 2024, will appear on the November 2024 ballot.

Proposition 4 proposes a $10 billion bond to address climate-related challenges like wildfires, extreme heat, drought, and floods while improving infrastructure and community resilience. With the council’s approval, the city will position itself to benefit from the opportunities provided by Proposition 4. If passed in November, the initiative seeks to benefit communities throughout California, including Redlands, by offering financial opportunities for relevant programs, including funding to address climate-related challenges while enhancing public infrastructure and environmental stewardship.
