Blockbuster Giants trade proposal lands $22 million World Series champion

The San Francisco Giants were not a powerhouse in 2024. After hiring former catcher Buster Posey as President of Baseball Operations, they could look to be active in the trade market to be competitive in 2025.

While outlining potential offseason trades’ Bleacher Report’s Kerry Miller proposed this trade that brings Jordan Montgomery from the Arizona Diamondbacks to San Francisco:

  • Giants receive: left-handed pitcher Jordan Montgomery and cash considerations
  • Diamondbacks receive: right-handed pitcher Josh Bostick

“While the Diamondbacks evidently want nothing to do with the $22.5M player option that he’s bound to accept, other teams are going to see that both Montgomery’s FIP and xFIP were only marginally worse than usual and hope that he can turn things back around in 2025,” wrote Miller.

The Giants will be in search of pitching as they are going to lose Blake Snell. Snell is expected to decline his player option and seek a big deal in free agency…
