Apartment Blaze in North Highlands Displaces Families, One Injured, Pets Rescued

A North Highlands neighborhood was disrupted by an apartment fire early Wednesday morning, leaving one person injured and several residents without a home. According to KCRA, the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District responded to the blaze around 8:16 a.m. on a property located on Stratford Street off Dover Lane. It was reported that one individual required treatment for smoke inhalation.

In addition to the injury, the ferocity of the fire rendered four of the twelve units in the building uninhabitable. Metro Fire of Sacramento said, the flames also extended to the roof of the condominium complex. Two dogs found amid the calamity, however, were brought to safety. Dispatched to a scene of a fierce urgency, fire crews found themselves pulling flames from both the residences and the life shared within.
