Brown University Health adapts amid national IV fluid shortage

Boston institutions are reporting they’re putting some surgeries on pause because of shortages of IV fluids.

Officials with Brown University Health, formerly known as Lifespan, said so far it’s business as usual, but with some changes in place.

“I think that people should be very confident in the fact that a lot of very smart people are looking at this process and a lot of conservation efforts have been put into place to be able to maintain our supplies of the needed fluids for the needed procedures,” said Dr. Dean Roye, Chief Medical Officer at Rhode Island Hospital…
