TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WBRC) – The Alabama Department of Veterans Affairs offers free legal advice exclusively to veterans and their families in Tuscaloosa, Birmingham, and neighboring cities across Alabama.

The Tuscaloosa VA holds the Veterans Legal Clinic every quarter during the year. It’s a chance for veterans to get help with any legal challenges they may be facing. It’s free for those veterans who otherwise may not be able to afford legal services outside the VA.

In some cases, the VA helps find an attorney to provide free legal representation in the following situations:

  • Driver’s license reinstatement
  • Bankruptcy and predatory lending (payday loans)
  • Divorce and protective orders
  • Wills and power of attorneys
  • Housing issues
  • Past legal fines

Information on where to attend these free clinics is below.
