Parents facing charge after family dog attacks baby

NILES, Ohio (WKBN) — A Niles mother and father are each facing a criminal charge after their nearly seven-week-old baby was seriously hurt by a family pet. Brianna McNeese and Dillon Gallagher were each indicted on a felony endangering children charge. Both McNeese and Gallagher pleaded not guilty at their arraignment Wednesday where their bonds were set at $7,500.

The charge stems from a June incident where Niles Police say the baby boy appears to have been viciously attacked by a German shepherd in his parent’s home. According to a police report, officers saw bruises and a “multitude of cuts, punctures, and scratches” on the boy while he was at the hospital.

At the time, the boy’s parents told officers they had been lying on the couch with the baby on McNeese’s chest and fell asleep. Gallagher woke up and found the boy face down on the floor in front of the couch, the report states. Both McNeese and Gallagher are scheduled to be back in court next week for pre-trial hearings in their cases…
