BOGUE SOUND, NC — Multiple investigators examined a massive manatee in knee-deep water after a fatal injury occurred in the Bogue Sound.
An estimated 1,000-pound male Florida manatee was killed after suffering a boat propeller injury to the head earlier this month, according to NC State University Center for Marine Sciences and Technology (CMAST).
Last Tuesday, the NC Division of Marine Fisheries Marine Patrol Officer Bolton towed the manatee to a landing site near Gales Creek after a report was received regarding the dead mammal.
