Dr. Phillips Charities donates $1.5 million to local nonprofits

Dr. Phillips Charities awarded $1.5 million in grants to local nonprofit organizations in Orange and Osceola counties on Thursday, Oct. 17, in celebration of Dr. Phillips’ 150th birthday.

The reception — and concert by Grammy Award–winning artist Rob Thomas — was hosted by Dr. Phillips Charities for community leaders, first responders and involved local nonprofit organizations. Over 40 nonprofits received grants, including 30 microgrants of $5,000 each to organizations making an impact across the community and 10 grants of $15,000 awarded to recipients voted on by the audience in attendance.

“It was a special night to honor the immense legacy of Dr. Phillips and his lasting impact on our community,” Ken Robinson, president and CEO of Dr. Phillips Charities, said in a statement. “Doc’s passion for ‘helping others help themselves’ lives on today across Central Florida and this event was a wonderful tribute to that heritage.”…
