Chippewa Falls School District and community discuss handling of student incident

CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – The Chippewa Falls Area Unified School District is accused of mishandling an incident where an 8th grader attacked a 9th grader and involved multiple students. Now, parents, students and community members are calling for change.

District members held a rally stemming from an incident parents say happened last week. The group says a bi-racial 9th-grade student had been hit with food and called racial slurs at a football game. They add staff intervened when a different student punched an 8th-grade student accused of attacking the 9th-grader.

According to a statement from Chippewa Falls Superintendent, Jeff Holmes, “we categorically deny allegations that our district has allowed “years of bullying, hate, and racism” to go unchecked. Our staff takes all reports of such behavior seriously and address them promptly.”…
