The City of Sacramento has recently updated the public on its continual efforts to quickly address the issue of homelessness. Detailed in their latest progress report for the week of October 14 to October 20, the City’s Incident Management Team has remained steadfast in responding to calls and providing support to unsheltered individuals, as per an article on the Sacramento City Express, the city’s news blog.
During this seven-day period, the Sacramento City had received 622 calls through its 311 customer service, explicitly concerning homelessness. The City’s Incident Management Team managed to close 1,112 calls, which means that they either found a solution to help those involved or the reported concerns were no longer present upon inspection. Ongoing outreach programs by the Department of Community Response saw the enrollment of 81 individuals into databases aimed to directly connect them with available resources like shelters. Furthermore, this initiative resulted in securing accommodation for 24 people at either the City’s Roseville Road campus or the Outreach and Engagement Center.
