TCU TE Drake Dabney has breakout game against Utah, looking for more against Texas Tech

TCU tight end Drake Dabney is in his first season as a Frog after a successful career at Baylor. The fifth-year senior hauled in a career-high 33 catches for 552 yards last season for the Bears and although his season hasn’t gone as expected through the first half, his performance against Utah is providing some confidence.

Dabney has hauled in 9 catches for 68 yards this season, but more than half of his yardage total came in last week’s 13-7 win over Utah as he hauled in three catches for 39 yards. His 20-yard reception to the Utah 1 set up the only Frogs’ touchdown of the night.

Dabney hopes his performance will lead to bigger games, starting this week against Texas Tech. In last year’s game against Red Raiders, he hauled in three catches for 30 yards. Texas Tech enters the game with the worst pass defense in the Big 12, surrendering 303.1 yards per game.
