The Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium announced on Thursday, that its western lowland gorilla silverback, known as Ivan, has died.
Also called Djembe, the gorilla suffered cardiac arrest Wednesday while undergoing a medical procedure at the Zoo.
Although Ivan showed no pre-existing conditions, gorillas are highly susceptible to cardiac disease, the zoo said. A post-mortem examination is being held…
