Revitalization: New life for Battle Creek’s historical Anson building and McCamly Hotel

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — Turning the old into the new is the recent theme in downtown Battle Creek, starting with an old building.

City officials have a plan to revitalize the area by converting the former McCamly Hotel on Capital Avenue into a DoubleTree by Hilton hotel. The building had been closed for almost five years prior to the renovation.

The goal is to make the downtown area seem more appealing for work, play, and residential purposes. The new DoubleTree will have 239 rooms for visitors officials hope will soon turn into permanent Battle Creek residents.
