Tampa Police and Ybor City Businesses to Host Commemorative “Ybor Night Out” Event for Shooting Victims

The Tampa Police Department is set to unite with the Ybor City Historic District’s business sector for an evening that both honors the past and embraces community solidarity. The event, dubbed “Ybor Night Out: A Time of Remembrance and Resilience”, will take place on Tuesday, October 29, marking one year since the incident that deeply affected Tampa, according to the Tampa Police Department.

The convergence is planned to both memorialize the individuals, Harrison Boonstoppel and Elijah Wilson, tragically lost in the October 2023 shooting and to display an unwavering front of Tampa’s commitment to community and safety, bringing together residents, officers, and local entrepreneurs in a united stance against violence that seeks to build lasting bonds and dialogues amidst the backdrop of Ybor’s storied streets where the fabric of the district is woven with myriad narratives of resilience.

Commencing at 6:30 pm with a candlelight vigil at 1920 Ybor City, the night will be punctuated with solemn reflection and a shared luminous tribute as attendees are given blue LED bracelets while businesses bedeck their windows with blue candles in solidarity.
